More than 400 visitors celebrate Opelika’s new active adult community during WCR’s 2017 Tour of Homes
“We are thrilled with the response of many future homeowners, real estate professionals and visitors who joined us for our grand opening weekend earlier in June, especially when you consider that we only broke ground a year ago,” says Allen Harris, developer of The Springs of Mill Lakes, the beautiful new 55+ community of 134 single-level homes in Opelika.
The Grand Opening of The Springs of Mill Lakes was part of the popular annual Women’s Council of REALTORS® – East Alabama Tour of Homes.
During the weekend, more than 400 visitors toured The Springs of Mill Lakes, and were wowed by the community’s gorgeous resort-style amenities and the model homes that were open to the public, including The Dorset by Homeworks of Alabama and The Essex by Harris-Doyle Homes.
The Grand Opening weekend started with the VIP First Look Preview Party on June 9. Ursula’s Catering provided a delicious spread for the 100+ guests, who also enjoyed live music.
Guest speakers included Opelika’s Mayor Gary Fuller, Derek Lee, Director of Opelika Power Services, Rosanna McGinnis, Director of the Cooper Memorial Library, and Sam Bailey, Director of Opelika Parks & Recreation and the Sportsplex.
In recognition of his support and service to the community, Mayor Fuller was presented with a plaque to be affixed to the bridge in The Springs, naming it “Fuller Crossing.”
Another highlight of the evening was when “The Gryphon” was unveiled over the clubhouse fireplace. This limestone logo from the West Point Pepperell Finishing Plant honors the time when the textile company owned the land as a recreation area for its employees.
On Saturday, June 10, the celebration continued with a delightful afternoon reception for invited guests and future homeowners. “What better way to showcase our lifestyle and our beautiful outdoor amenities,” smiles Harris. The event, hosted by Opelika Power Services, was an elegant poolside affair, with delightful hors d’oeuvres by Martha Hicks, Southern Hospitality Catering.
“It was a great opportunity to coordinate our Grand Opening in conjunction with this year’s WCR Tour of Homes,” says Harris. “We even signed a number of contracts!”
